Threads of Yarn Weaving Beautiful Memories at Ngoại Thuỷ Charity Class

As Purl Jam continued to expand its project, we had the opportunity to organize knitting workshops at Ngoại Thuỷ Charity Class, where nearly 40 girls from difficult backgrounds were introduced to basic knitting skills. These sessions were not only about learning a new craft but also about sharing moments, conversations, and meaningful connections.

Every Stitch Holds a Moment

Unlike the classes at Maison Chance, the students at Ngoại Thuỷ Charity Class were slightly older and each carried their own personal stories. The knitting sessions here often took place in a quiet and gentle atmosphere, where everyone sat close together, held their knitting needles, and began their first stitches.

At first, many of the girls felt hesitant, thinking that knitting might be difficult. But after a few attempts, they gradually became familiar with the rhythm of the repeating loops of yarn. What was especially interesting was that once they grew comfortable with the process, many began to see knitting as a way to relax.

During some sessions, they would knit while chatting about life and their dreams for the future. The atmosphere felt calm and peaceful, as if each stitch allowed everyone to slow down for a moment amid the busyness of daily life.

A Small Skill, A Meaningful Experience

Throughout the workshops, the girls learned several basic knitting techniques and gradually created small handmade pieces of their own. Some even shared that they hoped to continue knitting after the classes ended, because it helped them feel more focused and calm.

For Purl Jam, hearing these thoughts meant a lot. Knitting may seem like a small skill, but it can bring creative joy, patience, and a quiet moment of peace to those who practice it.

Every Strand of Yarn Builds a Community

The three months at Ngoại Thuỷ Charity Class were not only a journey of teaching and learning, but also a journey of connection. We met many kind, patient individuals who were always ready to help one another during each session.

Sometimes a student who had become more confident would help the person sitting beside her fix a stitch. Others would stay after class to finish the piece they were working on. Small gestures like these made the atmosphere of the class feel warm and welcoming.

For Purl Jam, these workshops were not only about sharing skills. They were also moments where we could listen to stories, witness the determination of the girls, and truly feel the value of community connection.

Colorful skeins of yarn, small knitting needles, and simple classes together created a space where people could learn, share, and experience the warmth of a caring community.
